Camino Press is the fine press imprint of Matthew Kelsey for typography, design, and letterpress work. Matt handset, printed and published his first book before starting college, and the edition of 100 copies sold out primarily to academic libraries. After college he worked at Arion Press for four years, where he designed and oversaw commissioned books for clients such as The Bancroft Library and The Book Club of California. After many years in trade book publishing, Matt returned to letterpress printing to establish Camino Press. He founded the Bay Area Printers’ Fair and Wayzgoose in 2014, and has created new posters each year for visitors to print from metal and wood type on a century-old proof press. His current work focuses on the use of fleurons, also known as printers’ flowers or typographic ornaments (or Schmuck to German speakers).
