Description

Cocktail Ornaments were designed by Alfred Finsterer in 1954 for Gebrüder Klingspor in Offenbach, Germany. With solid, shaded, and outline pieces, “just like a cocktail these novel decorative pieces can be mixed in a variety of ways.”

Cast in December 2021 at Schriftgießerei Rainer Gerstenberg in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Special casting coordinated by Matt Kelsey at Camino Press in Saratoga, California. All type is furnished at American type high .918″ (ground to this height at the foundry, as was the practice throughout the 20th century).

The foundry closed in December 2021, so it is unlikely that this will ever be cast again. Advance orders have been filled. A limited number of additional fonts are available. Set Number One is available in 18×36 point Didot, as well as 12×24 point Didot. Didot spacing is also available. Portions of Set Number Two may be available.

There is also very limited availability of Set Number One pieces in 48×48 point Didot and 24×48 point Didot.
